Sunday 6th May Maclean Classic Cadet Results.

 

On a beautiful brisk Autumn Sunday Morning 6 Grafton cadets competed in the Maclean Junior Classic. All six juniors were entered into the 9 hole event the juniors played from the members back markers set up for the members championships playing extremely hard and long with tight pin placements and with play as it lies rules. Again the cadets represented the Grafton club admirably with Courtney Fuller recording the equal best girls gross of the day 66 gross 45 nett she equaled one of the local junior girls. It was reported that Courtney encountered only one bunker in her round and putted well on the fast greens.

 

In the boys 9 hole section Nick Fuller scraped home to win by one shot shooting a 55 gross 45nett. Nick scrambled well all day parring one hole and came home very strong to complete a solid round under these conditions. Josh Tajber competing in his first junior tournament played well and won the nearest the pin award on the 2nd hole, Josh also parred one of the harder holes sinking a good putt and he recorded a 60 gross. Willow Harris recored a 64 gross and congrats to his mum for caddying for him-

Kayne Endean and Jackson Craig also competed in the 9 hole section and played very well

 

PSSA Golf Championships Coffs Harbour 8th May.

Grafton cadets dominated the PSSA Golf championships at Coffs Harbour on Tuesday 8th May -playing on a wet and long course with very fast greens. Nick Fuller 55 gross won and was PSSA champion. Willow & Nic have been selected in the North Coast PSSA team to play the regional championships in Forster later this year. Nic won on a count back from Willow Harris who also shot 55 gross. Willow & Nic both played solid golf for the 9 holes and both beat all other primary school golfers from the North Coast.
Kayne Endean and Abby Gordon also competed and played well in the tough conditions but without much luck.
Congratulations to all Cadets on their effort at Coffs Harbour especially Willow & Nic being selected for the North Coast Team to play in the Regional Championships 13th & 14th September this year.

 

Yamba Junior Classic 26th February

3 Grafton Cadets  attended the Yamba Junior Open today played in beautiful conditions the fairways were a bit soggy under foot but you would expect it to be with all the rain we have had. Overall the course was in great condition with preferred lies in play.

Jackson Craig again stepped up to the challenge very well and recorded 30 hits in the 5 hole event and this gave Jackson runner up in the gross section
2 shots behind the winner. Jackson's caddy (dad) reports that only for some putting troubles he could have won the event. Something to work on Jacko.

In the 9 hole event Grafton were represented by two Cadets Nick Fuller and Willow Harris. All juniors played from slightly forward tees on some holes. Nick won the gross section recording 44 hits and 8 shots clear of the field, he struck the ball very solidly and straight and only encountered one bunker in his round. Unlike his normal self Willow found the course much tougher and recorded 55 hits for his round, 3 behind 2nd place. Willow said that he put some eights on his card and found the course to play quite long.
All juniors were very happy with the way the tournament was run. 62 juniors from all over attending, with only gross prizes given out in the 5 and 9 hole sections.
